General Packing Tips (a.k.a. Mountain Wedding Survival Kit)
• Layer like a pro – Ruidoso loves to play temperature tricks. Mornings can be chilly, afternoons warm, and evenings downright cold. Bring layers you can peel off or pile on!
• Shoes matter – If you’re walking on mountain paths or grassy venues, stilettos may not be your best friend. Opt for stylish yet practical footwear.
• Sun smarts – We’re at high altitude, which means the sun is extra strong. Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat are your best defense.
• Hydration is key – The dry air and elevation can sneak up on you. Bring a water bottle and keep sipping!
• Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize – Your skin and lips will thank you for packing lotion and lip balm.
Seasonal Packing Guide
Spring (March - May) – “The Wild Card (and Windy!)”
Spring in Ruidoso is a mix of sunshine, cool breezes, and the occasional rain shower—but let’s talk about the wind! March and April can bring some serious gusts, so plan accordingly.
Light layers (long sleeves, cardigans, and a cute but windproof jacket)
A rain jacket or small umbrella (if you dare—wind + umbrellas don’t always mix!)
Closed-toe shoes or boots (it can get muddy!)
A stylish wrap or scarf that won’t fly away
Extra hair ties or hairspray if you want to keep your look in place
Summer (June - August) – “Sunny with a Side of Surprise”
Warm days, cool nights, and the occasional afternoon rainstorm. Welcome to summer in the mountains!
Lightweight, breathable clothing (linen and cotton are great choices)
A light sweater or jacket for evenings
Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a sun hat
Sturdy sandals or sneakers if you plan to explore
A rain jacket (because afternoon monsoons love to make an entrance)
Fall (September - November) – “Sweater Weather, but Make It Fancy”
Golden aspens, crisp air, and picture-perfect scenery—fall in Ruidoso is pure magic.
Cozy layers like flannels, sweaters, and a stylish jacket
A warm coat for late fall weddings (it can get cold fast)
Boots or closed-toe shoes (fall leaves = slippery paths)
A cute scarf and gloves for extra coziness
Winter (December - February) – “Snowy, Cozy, and Oh-So-Romantic”
Winter weddings here are like stepping into a snow globe! But you’ll want to dress accordingly.
A real winter coat (no, that light sweater won’t cut it)
Gloves, a hat, and a scarf (fashion meets function)
Waterproof boots if snow is in the forecast
Layers, because indoor venues can be toasty while outside is freezing
Lip balm and lotion to combat that dry winter air
Final Packing Checklist (a.k.a. Don’t Forget These!)
Wedding attire that fits the season
Comfortable, weather-friendly shoes
Layers, because Ruidoso weather likes to keep things interesting
Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat (yes, even in winter!)
Moisturizer & lip balm (trust us on this one)
A water bottle to stay hydrated
Rain gear if your wedding season calls for it
A warm wrap or stylish coat for outdoor moments
Windproof accessories for spring weddings
Whatever the season, Ruidoso will give you a wedding experience to remember. Pack smart, dress cute, and get ready for an unforgettable celebration in the mountains!
